Beloved Words of the Prophet ﷺ
These words were very dear to the Prophet (PBUH), the meaning of this dua is very simple but its benefit is spiritual, psychological, and deeply related to Allah.
Here are his words with the hadith:
The uttering of (these words):” Hallowed be Allah; all praise is due to Allah, there is no god but Allah and Allah is the Greatest,” is dearer to me than anything over which the sun rises.
(Sahih Bukhari 2695)
It means these words are more important than anything else in the world where the sun shines.
The specific phrases mentioned are:
- Subhan Allah (Hallowed be Allah): This phrase expresses awe and reverence for God’s perfection and greatness. Allah is perfect in everything, and there is no one like Him, in attributes, in the requirements of attributes, etc.
- Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah): This phrase expresses gratitude and thankfulness to God for His blessings.
- La ilaha ill-Allah (There is no god but Allah): This phrase declares the core belief in Islam – the oneness of God.
- Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest): This phrase affirms God’s supremacy and power.
Conclusion
If you want this dua to benefit you, you should follow the teachings of Allah and His Prophet. This dua will help us if we live according to their guidance. However, if we sin every day and just ask for forgiveness without truly changing, this dua won’t help us.
